HENRY BECKWITH,
farmer; P. O. Kilbourne; born in Crawford Co., Ind.. April 25, 1841; son of
Elijah Beckwith and Evaline Ceny; his great-grandfather participated in the
Revolutionary war. The Beckwiths are a long-lived race; his grandfather lived to
the age of 84, and then met his death by accident—his horse running away.
Henry moved to this county with his parents, first locating near Havana, and
remaining there until 1864, when they moved to the section he now resides upon.
Nov. 30, 1866, he married Sarah Heston, born in Chester Co., Penn., April 29,
1845; they have four children: Lizzie E., Bertie H., Howard P. and Charles
F.
